Instagram to introduce a "take-a-break" feature for teenagers

Updated: Jan 28, 2022

Instagram have announced that a "take-a-break" feature will be launched to help teenagers manage their time on Instagram. Parents will be able to see and control how much time their children are spending on Instagram in a similar way to Apple's 2018 Screen Time utility.

Over the past few months, especially during lockdown, Instagram has been under massive pressure due to the usage of their platform. Research has shown that "teenagers blame overuse of Instagram as reasoning for mental health and anxiety". Instagram has stated that "take-a-break" is a great way for parents to feel less worried about their children's health, safety and mental wellbeing.
